Scouts and A&R executives will sense right away if your artist career has short legs, especially if your live performances are weak and if there is a big value gap in the way you sound live compared to your recordings. The live show is often used as a quality check. It examines aspects that can't be assessed solely by looking at your social media or streaming numbers. Today, we'll go over a few of the qualities scouts look for in an artist they might be interested in representing 😀 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧? There are many variables that come into play when evaluating the potential of artists and whether a label should sign them or not. There’s no doubt, however, that your live performance and the way your fans respond are an inevitable point of reflection. Of course, training can help you improve your live presence and confidence. But keep in mind that a label will be reassured to see that you've taken care of that aspect by figuring out who you want to be and by simply being the best version of yourself as an artist and performer 💪 #normamusic #artistservices #musicconsulting #musicmarketing #a&r #talentscouting #recordlabels #musicindustrytips #recorddeal #liveshow #musicperformance #musicmanager #swissmusic #schweizermusik #musicindustry

𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚'𝐬 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 Hi guys, Aline here! Today I want to share part of my story and talk about 𝐦𝐲 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐜 𝐣𝐨𝐛, which I'm still quite proud of today, especially coming from a tiny village in Ticino's mountains and having completed my studies in a totally different field 🙃 In 2014, while on a post-graduation escapade to New York with my dearest friend Virginia, I got a phone call from London. During that summer I had applied spontaneously to over 60 music jobs both in Berlin and London. I didn't have any contacts in the industry and it was obviously hard to sell myself. But it worked. I finally interviewed for a job in a team that had zero prejudices and was simply impressed by how much I knew about music royalties. A topic I familiarised myself with by reading articles, the PRS and PPL websites and watching youtube videos a few days before 🤓 That's how my journey began! After a few weeks, I relocated to London and began working for @pias in the Artist and Label Services Royalties department. I know, music royalties aren't exactly the sexiest topic to start with, but believe me, I feel lucky today to have learned all about how music generates money and how artists can make a living from their art. This first job and @pias ’s strong reputation in the independent scene allowed me to get my foot in the door. I'm forever grateful to the precious people who opened that door for me back then... After that, my career progressed and I eventually ended up in marketing for an indie label and worked closely with artists on some amazing campaigns. Today, I'm excited to bring all this experience back to Switzerland with Norma's various services ✨ 𝟏 September 2014, my first work commute... of course it was raining! 𝟐 September 2014, office reception 𝟑 June 2015, snapshot from when I spotted 𝘑𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘦 𝘹𝘹'𝘴 𝘐𝘯 𝘊𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘶𝘳 billboard shining in Shoreditch High Street like a majestic piece of art (PIAS had worked on his campaign) 𝟒 September 2015, snapshot of a wardrobe with way too many stickers at the Paris office #pias #musicjob #normamusic #london #musicindustry #independentmusic
